Lake Merritt, Oakland

This shallow, 195-acre lake in downtown Oakland provides a variety of recreation activities to the city. Pedal boats, sailboats, canoes, and rowboats are available for rent at the boating center, open from 9AM to sunset.

Kayaking

Richard Schmidt Surf School Through his years of teaching and experience as a professional surfer, Richard developed the 'Schmidt Guarantee', which guarantees that one will stand up and ride down the face of a wave in their first lesson. We schedule around the ocean tide and swell conditions. If the tide is low enough we teach the lessons at Cowell Beach on the west side of Santa Cruz. If the swell is small and the tide is not low enough for Cowell's to be surfable, we move the lessons over to the Pleasure Point area on the east side of Santa Cruz.http://www.richardschmidt.com/
