The Santa Clara County Council recommends that you submit your tour permit two weeks prior to your outing, although they have been known to expedite last minute outings.  Our troop maintains a master list at the scout office with driver, vehicle and insurance information so that this information does not need to be refilled on each application.

Local tour permits must be filed with local council service center 2 weeks in advance of scheduled actviity for proper clearance. It IS used for trips of less than 500 miles.

A National Tour Permit is required for all groups traveling to areas 500 miles or more one way from home area (local council camp excepted), or crossing national boundaries into the territory of other nations. This application should be submitted, typed or printed, to the local council service center for approval at least one month before your tour. Then the council service center will forward it to the regional service center for further approval. It is essential that you read Tours and Expeditions, No. 33737C, before filling out this form.
For trips and overnight camps less than 500 miles one way, use Local Tour Permit Application, No. 34426B.destnation IS 500 males or more one way or outside

On-line Tour Permits
Unit leaders are now able to submit local and national tour permits electronically.  This new system takes just four easy steps, and it will save the transportation and training information, so leaders can easily recall it for future permit applications. All registered unit leaders will have access to Tour Permits from MyScouting, accessed on www.scouting.org. Councils will approve or return the permit applications using MyBSA.
