Adopt-a-Creek The program is FREE and requires only two days a year (minimum) out of your time. The water district will furnish garbage bags, gloves and gate keys (if necessary) to access your creek site, at no charge. The program also arranges for a maintenance crew to pick up the collected debris after your cleanup event. http://www.valleywater.org/Water/Watersheds_-_streams_and_floods/Taking_care_of_streams/Adopt_A_Creek/index.shtm Adopt-a-Beach When a group "adopts" a beach, they commit to cleaning it at least three times per year, although school groups can fulfill their obligation with a single cleanup. http://www.coastal.ca.gov/publiced/aab/aab1.html California Coastal Clean-up Day: September 18, 2004 Coastal Cleanup Day is the highlight of the California Coastal Commission's year 'round Adopt-A-Beach program and takes place every year on the third Saturday of September, from 9 a.m. to Noon. http://www.coastal.ca.gov/publiced/ccd/ccd.html
California Trail Day: April 24, 2004 National River Clean-up Day: May 15, 2004. Held the third Saturday in May. May 21, 2005 is the next River and Creek clean-up day. Summer Restoration at San Francisquito
Creek Adopte-a-Site Program We encourage community and school groups to adopt one of Save The Bay's wetland restoration projects. Adopting organizations volunteer monthly to improve habitat and track their progress. Volunteer activities: · collect native plant seeds · grow plants in our nursery · sow native plants along the shoreline · check water quality · monitor the health of wildlife populations School groups and others that adopt-a-site build strong connections and investment in their part of the shoreline. Students and volunteers gain a deeper understanding of the restoration process, wildlife and the Bay ecosystem. To learn more about the Adopt-A-Site program, contact Marilyn by email at mlatta@saveSFbay.org or by phone at (510)452-9261. McClellan Ranch Park
